American Red Cross Kern Chapter - NominateRealHeroes

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2010 "Real Heroes Recognition Award". The award honors outstanding residents of Kern County who have committed meritorious acts or exhibited exemplary service in the community. The person you are nominating must have demonstrated the action within the year 2009.

The Real Heroes Recognition Luncheon date and location will be announced at a later date. The event recognizes
community members who have exhibited exemplary behavior or participated in the saving of a life. Congressman Kevin McCarthy will be serving as the honorary Chairperson of this year's event as he has for the past seven years.

Categories for the 2010 awards are:

Educator
EMT/Safety
Firefighter
Law Enforcement
Medical Professional
Military
Outstanding Role Model-Adult
Outstanding Role Model-Group
Outstanding Role Model-Youth
Fallen Hero

Nominees for the awards will be accepted through Jan. 15, 2010 and announced on Jan. 28, 2010. Award recipients are selected by a panel of community leaders in February. The recipients will be announced at a media party at the Young Wooldridge that will be scheduled a week prior to the luncheon.

Winners in each of the categories as well as their sponsors will be invited to attend the luncheon. Contest entry materials can be obtained at the American Red Cross-Kern Chapter office at 5035 Gilmore Avenue or by calling 324-6427 or 1-800-498-4882.
